Project Spyglass
Modern Spanish New Build
The owners of this project purchased the lot with an approved set of plans, but were having trouble envisioning their home. After working with them a few weeks it became clear that not only did they not really align with one another on style, they didn't actually love the aesthetic of the home they were going to build. After going backwards to get everyone on the same page, we embarked on a 2 year project to build the 12,000+ SF home. Every detail was meticulously curated to fit both his (hacienda) and her (modern/glam) styles - probably a 80/20 scale in his favor.
With such a large space, warm elements were added to make it feel more intimate, but we also needed to define the focal points and create a range of scales to make the space feel both grand and cozy at the same time. Incorporating layers of natural textures like vintage wood beams, hardwood and limestone walls helped bring their vision to life and took this from a house to their home.
