A Casually Refined Kitchen
The owners of this Rancho Santa Fe home needed to improve how the layout functioned for their long-term needs. The garage was detached from the home so by connecting the two spaces, we were able to extend the family room as well as add a new bar and mudroom, and a more open plan suitable for entertaining.
Previously the kitchen was cut off from the family room and was quite dark and narrow. By removing the wall that separated them , we created a bright and open space with the feeling of a European kitchen that the client was craving. The inset cabinets, painted marble backsplash, and custom plaster hood all came together to give her the kitchen of her dreams. The hidden pantry (aka Scullery) was the culminating feature that gives us all the feels...
